Drive up the quiet tree-lined avenue and experience graceful country living at "Lightview", a protected, waterfront estate of 96 acres on Ware Neck in Gloucester County, Virginia, on Davis Creek, just off the North River in Mobjack Bay. The delightfully proportioned main residence dates to the mid-1800s. Of clapboard construction, the home has been restored and modernized. All the rooms are spacious and light-filled, with fine detailing, workmanship and materials. The floor plan moves smoothly from the more formal areas to the modern, open-plan kitchen with breakfast area and fireplace to the comfortable, new family room with thermostatically controlled gas fireplace. Both have spectacular views to the water. The home, which was featured in the 2003 Virginia Garden Week, is surrounded by landscaped grounds and expansive lawns which extend to the water's edge. A lovely garden next to the house encloses the inviting swimming pool. Formal gardens are close by.

Built by the Davis family in the mid-1800s, this grand three storey home with brick foundation features Victorian gables, breezy porches and a square bay tower. Sitting rooms on the second and third floors of the tower have breath-taking views of the water and New Point Comfort Lighthouse for which the house was named. It is the epitome of liveable elegance.

Just steps along the brick path from the house, the well-protected dock and boathouse, accommodates vessels up to forty feet in length. It is a boater's paradise: Sheltered dockage with easy access to the open water. Abundant marine life makes for good crabbing and oyster farming right from the dock as well.

A little further from the house stands an impressive, unique, three storey carriage barn and workshop of slightly under 12,000 square feet. With many features to gladden the heart of any collector, the building was designed and built in 2005 by the current owners to house their horse drawn vehicle and antique car collections. The facility includes a heated workshop and first floor efficiency apartment. The third storey "carriage wheel" windows were hand made by the owners and are a trademark of their designs. There is no other structure like it in the state of Virginia.

Additional facilities on the estate include a clay tennis court and cement ball court with basketball hoop close to the house. Stables with new sliding stall doors, rubber mats in the aisle, tack room, harness room and feed room are surrounded by acres of beautifully fenced pastures. Each pasture has one or more run-in sheds with electricity and running water. The present owners used these structures for the breeding, raising and training of horses. All of these ammenities are contained in an incomparable, private setting just 50 minutes from Williamsburg and 75 minutes from Richmond.

This is a boater's paradise; easy access to the Mobjack Bay and Chesapeake Bay beyond and a safe haven in which to return.
